Bon Secours Virginia opens second convenience care clinic

Medical staff at clinic accepts walk-ins and offers vaccines, screenings and acute care visits

Bon Secours Virginia Health System celebrated the opening of its second Bon Secours FastCare Clinic, which is located in the MARTIN’S Food Market at 13700 Hull Street Rd. in the Harbour Pointe Shopping Center in Midlothian. Bon Secours FastCare provides convenient, affordable patient care for those in need of non-emergency medical services including vaccinations, physicals, screenings, acute illness visits, treatment of minor injuries and basic lab tests, all on a walk-in basis.

The Bon Secours FastCare Clinic is open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“We are thrilled to open our second Bon Secours FastCare Clinic to provide quality, convenient care to the community,” said Herbert Cummings, COO, Bon Secours Virginia Medical Group. “Bon Secours FastCare is accessible, affordable and the same name that you know and trust.”

The clinic accepts all major forms of insurance, Medicaid and non-insured patients. For insured patients, primary care office visit copays apply. For non-insured patients, office visits are $40 including basic labs. Sports physicals are $20.

As the first health system in the area to enter the convenience care industry, Bon Secours offers a smooth and easy transition for its patients and those who may benefit from establishing a relationship with a local primary care physician. Bon Secours patients will benefit from the use of electronic medical records (EMRs) that can be shared with their Bon Secours physicians, while new patients may benefit from physician referrals. This is the first local convenience care model where EMRs are available and being used.

This FastCare location is staffed by nurse practitioners, Abby Barrett and Michael Reed. Abby received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Biology, as well as her Master of Science in Nursing from Samford University. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Daemen College and a Master of Science in Nursing/Adult Acute Nurse Practitioner from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing. He is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as an Adult Nurse Practitioner and also serves as a flight nurse in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.

Bon Secours Virginia has plans to open two additional FastCare locations in Hampton Roads this fall. For more information about Bon Secours FastCare, visit http://goodhelpdocs.com/practice/1012-bon-secours-fastcare.
